In more detail…
Touch - Building Hands-on Adjustments Skills

The Power of Touch can be a transformational part of any yoga practice, but not all yoga teachers are trained to do it safely.

You will learn the proper and safe way to adjust many of the yoga poses that exist today including both standing and seated poses, to enhance the experience and to help others with finding their optimal alignment.

The Power of Intention is an intelligence we all possess that is limited by the perception of failure, rejection and making mistakes.

You will learn to develop the courage to do the thing that you are scared to do. We all have this capability, and you too can access this intelligence and grow it beyond measure.

The Power of Receptivity is one of the highest vibrations that a human can experience, and often lacking in most due to the temptation to critique, judge and advise.

You will learn the art of deliberate listening to becoming open to truths. We cultivate the ability to withhold judgment and criticism and become present with others, and ourselves.

The Power of Expression means using emotions and matching energetic tone of a room to deliver an experience worth listening to.

Learn the skills to verbally communicate effectively and accurately so that what you share can land with those receiving it. Not only to cue movements and alignments but to also develop your own communication skills through voice, rhythm, timing, pacing, and silence.

The Power of Flow is the ability to trust yourself and know that what you already know is enough.

You will learn the skill to access your life experiences through a stream of consciousness, where we connect with our intuition and feel confident with creativity without cognitive dissonance, interruption, or “getting stuck”.

This 50-hour teacher training is Yoga Alliance certified and can be applied toward your 300 hour advanced certification. See FAQ below for more details.

About Your Trainers

Byron de Marse (E-RYT 500)

Byron’s journey began on an Oklahoma cattle ranch where he learned the benefits of hard work and discipline. He credits his humble approach to life and present dharma to a wide array of experiences, which eventually brought him to yoga. After becoming certified under Travis Eliot in 2010, he taught at Bryan Kest’s world famous Power Yoga studio for nine years. He continued his education with Schuyler Grant of Wanderlust, and has more than 10,000 hours of teaching experience.

His Vinyasa classes are dynamic, physically rigorous, heart opening, and designed to help others listen better through verbal guidance and enhanced precision cueing. Stressing proper alignment, mindfulness of physical limits, awareness of breath, and using inner inquiry, Byron’s classes suit different levels of practitioners, offering modifications for newcomers and advanced instruction for seasoned yogis.

Yoga has dramatically improved Byron’s physical wellness and has helped him develop strong mental and emotional stability. He believes that anyone with a consistent yoga practice will experience an increase in well-being, and possibly inspire you to live beyond what you currently think is possible.

Michael Henri (RYT 500, MPthy, BHK)

Michael is a highly experienced Physiotherapist and yoga teacher from Canada who has worked in public and private practices, hospitals, and orthopedic clinics in several countries all over the world.

Michael received his 200 HR certification through the Elements of Power Yoga school, studying under Paul Teodo, Byron De Marse, and Leah Santa Cruz in 2020. Upon completion, he immediately started working alongside his teachers and mentors to create a curriculum to support yoga teachers in teaching safely and effectively.

He is the creator and co-founder of Going Pro Yoga. Michael is committed to integrating functional anatomy into the practice of yoga so that alignment, cueing and sequencing makes sense and can be more easily remembered and understood.

His teaching style is simple, useful, and to the point. He filters through the unnecessary by teaching you only what you need to know. He will enhance your experience by further developing your sense of body awareness, and will allow you to explore your limitations while at the same time respecting them.

In more detail…
Hands On Assist

The most popular and elaborate part of the course, hands on adjustments. Learn to help your students come back to the present moment, to deepen their practice, guide them to better alignment, share a moment of care and assist them to release the tension stored in muscles. From backbends, inversions, forward folds to twisting and balancing poses, our module covers a variety of poses that you can use in your class. At the end of these 6 days, you will leave feeling more confident in the power of touch and the comfort of breath.

Props are the beautiful additions that help to elevate your yoga practice. In this course, we will dive into the significance of using props efficiently in your practice and highlight the advantages they bring, not only to your practice but also to your body. Explore the benefits of props in your self practice and help your students gain better alignment, extension of the body, breathe deeper and relax more.

Sequencing a flow (group class or private) requires clarity of purpose, necessary warm ups, counterposes and a lot more. Discover different sequencing methodologies, identify how and when to use each of them, and how to progress your sequence to meet the needs of different class levels. You will learn sequencing toward a specific goal or peak pose, how to clearly and effectively cue your students and find your own authentic teaching voice. This will help you feel confident about teaching fun, creative and intelligent flow classes .In dedicated workshops during the course, you can also learn safe ways to transition in and out of poses, teaching your student to move seamlessly from one asana to another.

Yoga therapy is the application of yoga asana, breathwork, meditation techniques —to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. With the guidance of a professional yoga therapist, we offer in-depth training to help assess and keep your clients safe. Discover the physical postures that address specific areas of discomfort or musculoskeletal imbalances, cultivate a discipline to support healing while aligning with the body rhythm, anchor into the body and breath and access the issues that live in the tissues. Unlock the complexities of the nervous system and learn how to manage chronic pain and neurological health issues.

Yoga focuses on the mind and the body, which gives it the potential to address both the physical and nonphysical aspects of an injury. Yoga incorporates movements and stretches that target specific muscle groups and areas prone to injury and so by strengthening and stretching these areas, yoga helps prevent common injuries. In this course, we also teach you how to support the healing of injured muscles, joints, and tissues. Our teachers will guide you on how to use advance mind-body approach in which you can apply the teachings and practices of yoga to evaluate the individual needs of students/clients. You can learn on how to assist individuals with their injury recovery by designing a physical routine to target and strengthen weak muscle groups, guiding your students / clients through mindfulness exercises, and serving as a support system to them.

This class focuses on analysing and dissecting basic & advanced postures. You’ll learn the correct alignment based on the traditional approach and in line with body mechanics, understand how to offer hands-on adjustments and how to structure them in a Vinyasa class. The teachers will always be present in your practice, observing and providing feedback.

In this class you will learn:

  • Analysis of arm balances, back-bends, inversions, forward folds, standing postures, balancing postures and more
  • Modifications, other variations, and advanced variation of all postures
  • How to use yoga props in your yoga practice

Our Signature Course

Connect to your spiritual self – the blissful nature of your true being. Join us for our 200hr Traditional Hatha Yoga TTC at our beautiful new retreat center « Down the Rabbit Hole » surrounded by a large, lush tropical garden in the very heart of Ubud.

Hatha Yoga teaches one of the most valuable aspects of yoga—the spiritual path as a transformative process!

Haṭha yoga is a multi-dimensional practice, integrating yogic ethics, diet, cleansing, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and an ancient system for spiritual development passed on from Guru to disciple.

During this 3 week course, you’ll be transported away from the stresses of modern life—and experience the lifestyle of a true yogi.

You’ll learn about the roots and wisdom teachings of Hatha, and Spiritual Tantra, specifically, Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, derived from a great classic text of Tantric Shaivism which describes 112 ways to catch sight of Reality beyond the mind.

Explore the essence of life

This course sheds light on many aspects of Hatha yoga— an integral, comprehensive, meditative path, and the founding mother of all modern yoga asana schools.

With A Focus On

The traditional, spiritual approach of yoga as well as preparing you to run your business in the modern world! Building your confidence, skills and profound knowledge.

Asana: Learn a deeply embodied and mindful approach to asana. Alignment isn’t just about your physical body, but focuses on all aspects of your being; your energy, thoughts, emotions, and consciousness.

Pranayama: Practice 8 especially selected breathing techniques rooted in the Shiva Tradition to awaken and purify life-energy.

Meditation: Practice selected meditations from the Shiva Tradition, including mantra, and those practiced within Laya, Kundalini and Bhakti yoga.

Kriya: Experience cleansing techniques, with a strong focus on breath combined with movement. Purify your nervous system, energy channels and other systems of your body – for rejuvenation and healing.

Sadhana: Develop a daily practice, learning the difference between the five Koshas or layers of self (body & nerves, mind, intelligence, will & consciousness)

Theory & Practice: Methodology, philosophy, anatomy and physiology

We maintain a very high standard of teaching while making classes fun and interactive.

Your mornings will begin with an hour of pranayama, meditation and mantra chanting, followed by Hatha Yoga.

Early afternoons focus on learning asanas, with an emphasis on alignment, adjustments & methodology. Then you’ll dive into the theoretical part, studying Yoga Philosophy and Anatomy (alternating days).

Late afternoon lessons focus on restorative styles of yoga such as Yin, Yoga Nidra and specialized workshops.

Years in the making, carefully designed and well structured, we shaped our advanced course based on what our students need. We listened to you and designed a course that will take you on a journey deep to the vast world of Yoga, provide deeper knowledge, new skills and build utmost confidence. The Practice

The course is a 5 – week intensive advanced 300hr training that will build on your pre-existing knowledge so having already a 200hr certification will be required.

Following from our 200hr course, this training will naturally be practice focused as well. We will analyze all the poses of Ashtanga Primary Series, as well as more and new Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga postures. We will break down, analyze, learn how to perform, adjust and teach those poses and make creative and well structured flows with them.

The anatomy lessons will hug the asana classes, complementing them by focusing on the understanding of movement patterns, their practical application to our practice and how each pose affects the joints, bones and muscles. We will take a deeper look, not only at the muscles & their fascia, but also at the nervous system. We will gain more insight into how the mind is connected to our body and how we can invest in that relationship and take the reigns.

The Spirit

Our days will start with Pranayama, meditation and chanting, balancing us and setting the stage for the rest of the day. You will be introduced to new, more advanced breathing techniques and practice different kinds of meditation methods and mantra chanting.
The philosophy classes will take us through the epic Baghavagitta, where we will have in-depth, open-minded & constructive discussions in order to find ourselves there and see how we can apply the traditional yogic ethics & lifestyle to our modern lives.
In the afternoons, we will delve deeper into the practice of Yin, as well as being introduced to even more styles of yoga, like Tantra, restorative, pre-natal and others, as well as having regular theme-based workshops.

The Family

Five intensive, challenging and very rewarding weeks await you. During this training we will spend even more hours together, practicing, training and learning but also supporting and helping each other, through good and bad.

During this training you will work closer and for more hours with your teachers, who will always be there to support and guide you through this journey. You will bond and connect on a deeper level with your fellow students as well. You will live, eat and sleep close to each other as well as have many many hours of mutual practice where you will be asked to group up and study or practice your final lessons together.

On Sundays you will have your day-off where you can explore the majestic Bali and visit the temples, the jungle, the sea or the mountains, depending on your energy levels.

What To Expect

Practice every day in our special home deep in the rice fields overlooking the jungle, the YogaUnion Shala.

Accommodations in our partner guesthouses in the surrounding area, our magical neighborhood Sok Waya, which is surrounded by ricefields and the local community while being only 10-minutes walking distance from the center of Ubud.

Daily, mornings will begin with pranayama, meditation and mantra chanting, followed by Vinyasa and Ashtanga flow classes.

Early afternoons will be focused on deep learning of asanas with an emphasis on alignment, adjustments & teaching methodology. You will dive into the theoretical part, studying Yoga Philosophy or Anatomy (alternating days).

The afternoon lessons will be focused on restorative styles of yoga such as Yin, Hatha, Nidra, introducing you to different styles of yoga such as pre natal yoga and specialized workshops.

Late afternoon lessons will seal the day, with practicing what we learn, work on our final lessons and studying together as we watch the sun setting behind the ricefields.

You will eat at our YogaUnion restaurant a few minutes walking distance from the Yoga Shala, where chef Agung will be waiting for you, to try out her healthy and nutricious recipes, all made from local and organic fruits & vegetables.
